During its life, Filmotype and it's inventor Alan Friedman with his wife Beatrice pioneered the first portable typesetting system complete with an easy to use typesetting machine and an exhaustive library of display typefaces that were created for it (Filmotype was the creator of the 2″ filmstrip photo font).

By random chance and months of exhaustive research, a man by the name of Don Hase, Filmotype's first employee, opened our eyes to the great history of this amazing little company that went on to later become Alphatype before it's demise in the late 1990s only to be reborn in 2006 by Stuart Sandler of the Font Diner. Come along on this fascinating journey to learn the history and the future of this historic preservation effort.
